Income generation in Nigeria
is becoming hard to get if depending on salaries cause there just to many
people for too little available jobs and even the available ones pay too little
to serve its purpose till the end of then month before getting another one that
is why its best to be an entrepreneur even if not a full time one at least till
you know you can depend on it for a consistent income.
I would be give
details on how to invest and generate income from breeding of dogs. There are
so many
dog breeds in the world but there are particularly popular ones in Nigeria.
The following are the
things needed:
1.
LAND FOR KENNEL: This is very important but not
a problem if you already have some space in your compound to build or place
your dog kennel.
2.
KENNEL: This could be in different form; bricks
or blocks, metal, wooden. This depends on choice or condition of land if it is
temporary or permanent. The best on a permanent basis is bricks or blocks.
3.
CHOICE OF DOG BREED: Deciding on which breed(s)
you want to start with or rear is very vital as not all breeds are in the same
demand in Nigeria due to certain reasons such as choice, purpose, price, aggression
of breed, ability to withstand the climatic conditions of Nigeria,etc. names of
popular dog breeds in Nigeria would be listed with qualities in subsequent
posts.
4.
FEEDING: Deciding on the type of dog feed to
want to give your dogs would determine how big they get. Feeding is not necessarily
about quantity alone but also quality. Dogs generally need a balanced diet of
basically protein, carbohydrate, fat, etc. Here are the cartegories of food you
can give your dogs.
a.
Dry feed: This are also called crunchies. The are
solid and contain a combination of many nutrients in different proportion
depending on the brand. There are a lot of different names out there with
different prices and quality.

b.
Can food: This are semi-solid containing also
many nutrient in different proportion depending on the brand. This could be
served mixed with cooked rice, indomie(noodles) or not mixed at all depending
on what you aim to achieve or your financial capability.
NB: Do not over feed your dog in the name of making them bigger faster. You
shouldn’t force growth as every dog breed has its own duration of size and
weight gain.
c.
Natural Food: This is actually the best but its
very difficult getting the appropriate nutrient combination as we do not want
to feed our dogs one nutrient more than the other. We aim to achieve a balanced
diet.
5.
MEDICATION:
Every dog needs some drugs to keep it going. Some are given daily,twice a year
or annually depending on the age. Such as drugs
include: multivitamins, deworming tablets or injections, boosters, calcium if
necessary especially for dogs with joint or bone problems.
6.
GENERAL HYGIENE: Dogs need to take their bath at
least every week or every two weeks depending on the condition of the dog with
the appropriate soap and chemical. They also need to be groomed regularly.
7.
BREEDING:
If your dog is a female then you should be ready to expect your reward when yor
dog turns one and a half or two years as this is when she gets fully matured reproductively
. When she comes on heat, mating should be about 10-14 days from the first day
of the heat period as this is when she is most fertile. You could mate her
twice or thrice with or without a day interval between these days. Dogs normally
give birth 63 days on the average from mating.
8.
PUPPIES CARE: After birth there are certain
shots your puppies are to take before sales to their new owners and also make
sure to feed them well in order to get them enticing for potential buyers. Prices
of puppies depend on the breed.
